Looking ahead to the last week of the 1st Quarter...

Monday 10/2- Revise & Finalize Personal Narratives

****As of now, this assignment is due on Tuesday, 10/3. It is a summative grade and may or may not be included in the 1st Quarter grading period. For clarification, please review the cover sheet which was provided on 9/21.

Tuesday 10/3- Introduce Rotations and Small Group Rotations and Expectations. Revisit and discuss the personal narratives we previously studied ("The Scholarship Jacket" and "Bad Boy").

Wednesday 10/4- Common Summative on "The Scholarship Jacket" and "Bad Boy".

Thursday 10/5 & Friday 10/6 - Begin 2nd part of the Unit 1 in our Springboard curriculum.

As part of the second embedded assessment, students will learn how to create an original illustrated myth. Students analyze a variety of traditional texts to deepen their understanding of the structure of a story, as well as to increase their understanding of character development. Students research mythical gods and goddesses, analyze texts for symbolism, and use visual techniques for effect. Students apply their knowledge of the elements and structure of mythical short stories as they write and illustrate their own myth.
